An economic lens to capture oat market value through industry innovation & investment

We will provide economic analysis to identify the economic outcomes generated for Australia by increasing the processing, and therefore value-adding, capacity for oats using WA as a case study. This information will help guide future investment decisions by providing any credible benefits from further investment.

Completed (March 2025)

  • In February 2025, we presented information on new oat product releases and branding and labelling trends in Asia at the GRDC 2025 Research Updates, Perth.
  • Key AEGIC findings from this project and initiatives that could assist the WA industry were presented and discussed, in February 2025, with a small set of oat processors and exporters to obtain their feedback and views.

Scheduled (by June 2025)

  • Reports on the following will be presented to the POP Steering Group:
      • Economic analysis  of oat processing and oat production within WA
      • Global review of trade
      • New oat product release and branding and labelling trends in Asia
      • Positioning WA oats for the future
  • Some or all the reports may be available post consultation with the WA Government, the provider of investment for this research.
  • The project will complete by June 2025.
